For some reason this is the part of being a writer that freaks me out the most — seeing my autobiography sold alongside those of famous people who I grew up idolizing. This time it’s a #1 bestseller ahead of Mary Poppins, Eliza Doolittle, Queen Guinevere, and Maria von Trapp. : )

What? Me and the President?

I was making a routine check of my email when I saw this ad on the AT&T Email Home Page.
At first, I thought I was losing my mind. When I calmed down, I took a screenshot to prove it was not an hallucination. I’ve cropped the actual emails out of the message to protect the privacy of my friends. Even if it was just for a moment and then another book was put in the ad for the next person who clicked….it was pretty fun.

I’ve learned that my book is being used in various colleges and prep schools to teach subjects as wide-ranging as medical ethics, psychology, and literature. One of the courses at a school near Boston has my book mixed in with Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Tim O’Brien (an idol of mine for his book The Things They Carried.)
Gee. How did that happen?

Film companies are now calling every day! How did this happen? Check out this review…
“This book will make a great movie, and I will be the first in line to buy tickets. This is a mainstream book, not labeled in any way “inspirational,” but the truths in the telling of a caring country doctor will leave the reader with unforgettable thoughts. … What a golden nugget this is. Read it over and over again and then share the words. Heart in the Right Place will not be out for a few weeks, but you will want to put your order in at your bookstore. It’s a great gift for both Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.” Velma Daniels — PolkOnline, Readers Digest and Guideposts author

Publishers Weekly says this:
“Jourdan’s dispatches from the reception desk make for a stirring, beautiful memoir that is alternately hilarious and heartbreaking, and ultimately a triumph.”

“More Magazine” will be publishing an interview and book review by Rebecca Barry in their June issue. Rebecca has a book coming out in May called “Later, at the Bar.” She seemed like a really nice person, so I bet it’s good.
