An amazing group of women! Kathy Roach Leveille, Sue Hensley, Barbara Oran, Sue Watson, Linda McRae Price, Ann Story Williams, Myrna Roach (instigator of the event, trying to hide), Carolyn Jourdan, Jacki Kirk, Linda Parks, Glenda Newton, Betty Sewell (we invaded Betty’s beautiful house), Carol Mohney.

Had a great time with these ladies from Kingston: Roberta Rhyne, Edde, Marilyn, Rae, Ella, Harriet, Jo, Becky, Mary Elise, Katy, Leila, Bonnie, Ruth Ann, and Jean. (They weren’t all able to squeeze into this photo unfortunately.)

I was making a routine check of my email when I saw this ad on the AT&T Email Home Page.
At first, I thought I was losing my mind. When I calmed down, I took a screenshot to prove it was not an hallucination. I’ve cropped the actual emails out of the message to protect the privacy of my friends. Even if it was just for a moment and then another book was put in the ad for the next person who clicked….it was pretty fun.

Pat Carter loved her cat Willie so much, she got a tattoo of his sweet face!

Nina Jones just told me two really great stories. Nina is a school nurse in Arkansas. Get ready to laugh:
“Johnny” (5th grader) comes into the office one morning and tells the secretary and me that he was out the previous day due to a Dr.’s appointment, where he had an “autopsy” done.
“Bobby” (7th grader) arrived at school with a sling on his arm. He says they think it’s broken, but the “archeologist” has to look at his x-rays first to be sure.

Cats & Computers
A tiny starving kitten came to my house the other day. The little tortoiseshell colored beast was so thin and pitiful. I petted her and fed her.
This is what happened a few days later:

Then the father showed up.

I went from 0 to 5 stray cats in the blink of an eye. Hey, what’s going on here? I meant to be taking in only one small cat…

I was complaining about this to a colleague and she admitted this is what had just dropped in at her house:

The interesting thing about this (to me) is that one incident happened in Strawberry Plains, TN, while the other happened in Delhi, India. Small world, huh?
In my day job I’m a webmaster who is unworthy of the title. I live in the Smoky Mountains. The crackerjack computer programmer who is the key to my success lives in India.
Despite being on opposite sides of the world, clearly we are both tools to be used by cats.
And despite the cats being on opposite sides of the world, they are still capable of dominating and controlling the brains of even the smartest of women.
What is it about cats?
What is it about cats and computers?
What is it about cats and computers and women?
Anybody need a nice pet?

Near Greenwood, Mississippi, right next to the bridge that Billy Joe McAlister jumped off of, is Tallahatchie Flats. You can rent an immaculate and beautifully yuppified sharecropper’s shack located in the middle of a cotton field and think Deep Thoughts about the Deep South. Click here or on the picture below to check it out. I stayed in Tush Hog’s House on the far left. I can recommend it highly.

I stayed there while visiting the wonderful Jamie Kornegay and Turnrow Books.

I just won the Fellowship to be the next Writer in Residence at the Fairhope Center for the Writing Arts! What a great honor to be following in the footsteps of so many distinguished southern writers!
Is this a cool house to hang out in at a world famous artists’ colony or what?
